Drifter House 9 Secondary Sim

I’m looking for an secondary sim for House 9 of Drifter, he will eventually marry my heir from house 8 of Drifter, screenshot with details of the House 8 heir, Isobel Driver, is below.

His goal in house 9 will be to max the Secret Agent career, Villain branch (11 levels). I’d like him to be a spellcaster and a genius. If you’d like to create him, please share him to the gallery using #MSH9DrifterSpouse Please don’t use the following kits:

  • Modern Menswear,
  • Fashion Street Kit or
  • Carnaval Streetwear Kit (which just released the day of this post 😊 )

This sim needs to be unplayed and not in any career.

There are also traits I don’t like, including evil, kleptomaniac, non committal, hates children & jealous (if you use traits I don’t like and your sim is chosen, I’ll be removing those traits).

Deadline is 1 pm Eastern, this Sunday, February 6. I’ll take any sims that have been submitted and do a poll to vote for which one should join Isobel in House 9. Thanks! 😊

I also attach a screenshot of the House 9 goals for those interested.

Mini Occult Baby Challenge (Sims 4)

Since we had some interest to do some type of challenge in the Sims Sanctuary Facebook group I thought I’d write up a shorter challenge that combined the interests I saw mentioned on our poll. As a result this challenge will have three elements and you can participate in whichever part you prefer, up to all three parts.

  1. Gameplay
  2. Create a Sim
  3. Build

I thought it would be fun if those doing the gameplay challenge used the sims and/or builds created by those who participated in the Create a Sim and Build Challenges, though this of course is optional.

If you’d like to share your sims and builds for others to use during the challenge, please have them on the gallery by Friday, January 21, 2022 using #minioccultbabychallenge . If you upload without the hashtag, put your Gallery ID and details of what you uploaded for the challenge on our Facebook post about it.

My overview of the challenge will be on my channel on Saturday, January 22, 2022 & the gameplay start of the challenge starts Sunday, January 23, 2022. This is when I plan to start my Let’s Play on my channel with the sim in the above screenshot. See section 4 for some decisions I’ve made re the optional aspect of the challenge as well as some additional challenges I’ve added. Playlist link

1. Gameplay

While the create a sim and builds will come first, the gameplay drives them so I will start with the details about that.

You will start with a human sim, i.e. non occult sim, who has the ability to get pregnant.

Goals for the sim who has the babies:

  1. Either:
    A. Have six pregnancies with occult sims in your game, preferably one of each type of occult that you have, but that’s your choice.
    B. Try up to three times per occult sim to have a baby of that occult type. Note that at the time of creating this challenge there are four occults (see point 4) if you have the packs they come with, that could be up to twelve pregnancies. If you don’t have all the packs, or prefer not to play with certain occults, still try to have four pregnancies that result in an occult baby, with the same cap of 12 (edited to add this would be 15 if you added werewolves to the mix as of Jun 2022) pregnancies (see below screenshot after point 5 for more clarification).
  2. Similar to 100 Baby, your sim will have a different partner for each pregnancy.
  3. In addition to step 1, your sim will have one final pregnancy with your choice of the following:
    * Father Winter (Seasons required),
    * an Island Elemental (Island Living required, a sim needs the Child of the Island trait to call them) or
    * any Townie (i.e. any sim that comes with the base game or any pack vs a randomly generated one, some base game examples are Mortimer Goth, Geoffrey Landgraab, Don Lothario. Some examples of townies that come with packs are Knox Greenburg (Eco Lifestyle), Paolo Rocco (Get Together)).
Note if you wish, you can have your sim become an occult of your choosing before this final pregnancy.
  4. Here are the occult offspring possibilities at the time of writing this challenge if you have the required packs:
    * alien or alien hybrid (Get to Work). My understanding is that full aliens are rare with only one alien parent UNLESS your sims is abducted & has a full alien, so both alien and alien hybrid count towards the goal. If you use MCCC you can use the setting to allow both genders to get pregnant from abduction.
    * vampire (Vampires)
    * mermaid (Island Living)
    * spellcaster (Realm of Magic)
    * edited to add werewolves (Werewolves, new game pack released Jun 2022)
  5. Some optional added challenges, 1) give each child who moves out starting funds of 20,000 and or 2) start your sim with nothing (i.e. no simoleons on an inexpensive, empty lot).

More clarification re option B :

Note re aliens/alien hybrids: Link to a very helpful post by a member of the Sims Sanctuary Facebook group with more information on aliens/alien hybrids.

Goals for the children:

  1. Keep a baby for one sim day (this is changed from the 2 days shown in my introduction video, but consistent with my saying a minimum of 24 hours in that video).
  2. At a minimum toddlers must reach happy toddler (level 3 of all skills) plus level 3 of potty before aging up.
  3. As a child complete the creativity aspiration, become an A student & have learned to say sorry from their parent (i.e. conflict resolution has to be in a range to earn).
  4. Put all the pictures they draw as a child and at the end of the challenge have a wall with all of the base game pictures each child drew (this is the ‘collection’ of this challenge).
  5. As a teen become an A high school student & learn at least two more positive character values (for three in total). At this point you can move the teen out or you can age up to a young adult, your choice.

There are no other rules, so for example:

  • Aging settings can be as you wish (ie short, normal, long or off).
  • You can hire any service providers, including nannies.
  • You can use a randomizer for traits for the babies or choose the traits for yourself. If you want to randomize the traits you can use the in game trait randomizer or use something like the Sims Legacy trait randomizer.
  • Whether or not your sim has a job is up to you.
  • You can use the option to start with no money, start with starting money or use cheats for money.
  • You can choose and change the lot traits/lot challenges whenever you want.
  • You can use a regular lot, a micro lot or a haunted house!

The challenge ends when the child (or children) born in the last pregnancy meet the requirements to age up to young adult (A high school student & 3 positive character values).

2. Create a Sim Challenge:

  1. Create a non occult sim who will be able to have babies and/or
  2. In a separate household create some occult sims that can impregnate others.

Challenge Criteria:

  1. Each sim will need a minimum of one outfit per different outfit category.
  2. Optional added challenge:
    * occult sims should be made with base game + the pack the the occult is from
    * the non occult sim should be base game + one pack of your choice.

These sims need to be shared to the gallery. The challenge version shared to the gallery needs to be made without custom content, preferably using #minioccultbabychallenge in the description. If you do use custom content feel free to do a version with custom content and show screenshots of both so we can see the differences!

3. Build Challenge

Create a starter home that will be used for the baby challenge.

Challenge Criteria for the home:

  1. The gallery version must have a value of 18,000 simoleons or less and be on a 30×20 lot. When you are building the lot value will be included in the value, so take that off when tracking the cost. For example, Asphalt Abodes in Newcrest costs 2,000 simoleons, so if you were building there, the value of the build on the lot can be 20,000 (18,000+2,000). See my blog post on the cost of empty lots for the base game for more information on starting lot values.
  2. Must include items for toddlers – at a minimum one toddler bed, one potty, blocks, bookshelf & a teddy bear.
  3. Must include items for the creativity aspiration – at a minimum one creativity table & one instrument & a toybox.
  4. Optional added challenge: Make it a limited pack build, i.e. base game plus up to one of each type of pack (i.e. stuff, game & expansion pack, no kits) in the furnish and decoration. You can either pick the packs or use a randomizer. See below for exception.

Note: This can be any residential lot type – regular, micro (including ‘modified micro’) or haunted house.

As with the sims, the build needs to be shared to the gallery. The version shared to the gallery needs to be made without custom content, preferably using #minioccultbabychallenge in the description. If you do use custom content feel free to do a version with custom content and share screenshots of both versions for fun.

Exception to the limited pack, you can use functional items from any packs as long as they won’t be missed if a person doesn’t have the pack. For example, if you don’t use Seasons as your expansion in your build, you can still add a thermostat as it won’t be missed by someone who doesn’t have Seasons.

4. Additional Goals for my Let’s Play

Note that these are additional goals I will be setting for myself to try and accomplish during my Let’s Play, if anyone else wants to add these or create their own goals, I’d love to hear how it goes:

  1. I’ll be doing the optional start with nothing.
  2. Each child leaving the household needs 20,000 simoleons to take with them. Apart from one child, the rest will be teens when they leave the household (after they’ve completed the required goals).
  3. My sim will have to complete the following aspirations:
    * serial romantic
    * friend of the world
    * parenthood aspiration
    * fortune aspiration
She can also work on other aspirations at the same time.
  4. Keep track and count each unique location for woohoo/try for baby.
  5. She will do a minimum of 6 tries for baby with occults.
  6. Depending on how long the challenge takes, we may try for a baby with Father Winter and an Island Elemental. Before she does this she will become a spellcaster.
  7. I’m doing a mix of choosing my traits & using the Sims Legacy Trait randomizer (it’s a mix because some traits will be banned, some examples of traits I will not use are evil, goofball, kleptomaniac, hates children).
  8. Toddlers need to max all skills before aging up.
  9. Children will:
    * join Scouts
    * at a minimum complete at least one other childhood aspiration, in addition to the
    required creativity aspiration.
  10. Aging will be on long.

Castaway Challenge (Seasons Edition)

I’m redoing the Castaway Challenge, now updated for Seasons & new things added to base game. It is coming to my channel Friday, December 31, premiering at 7 pm Eastern.

Playlist link for this updated challenge.

This challenge was originally created by Nando (EAD is now NandoandStitch, previously SimplyNando) & it was one of my first challenge let’s plays on my channel back in 2016. This new version stands alone, however, if you’d like to watch my original challenge and see how much the game & I’ve changed, here’s the playlist link (20 parts). One big difference is definitely the sound quality as for the first few months of my channel my microphone was the one built into the laptop! 😊

Unfortunately the link to the original challenge rules no longer exists, however, I had a write up in part 1 of the description, so if you want to see what I followed for the original challenge, you can see it there.

Castaway Challenge Details:

I have taken the rules and goals for the ‘Extreme Castaway Challenge’ from my original video description and reworked them to clarify some points and to update/tweak them for changes to the game since that time. The goals are the same as before and I’ve rebuilt the island so it works better for those who have Seasons. Another change to the build is that the island now uses the pond tool for the water surrounding the ‘island’ instead of fountains.

Summary: Overall you need to get to level 5 of certain skills to get off the island so your sim, or sims, need to work on certain skills to unlock the doors, which let you unlock more doors to get to get what’s needed for other skills! You can only use what’s on the island and you can’t leave the island until you’ve met all the goals!

Now onto the more detailed explanation!

To begin with you need level 5 of gardening before you can ‘unlock’ any door as level 5 of gardening is needed to clear the landscaping blocking access to the underground ‘caves’, which is where the rooms with the doors are. After that, as you meet a goal, you ‘unlock’ the related door. Apart from the skill items available immediately, the item you need to build the skill is locked behind a door for most of the other skills so generally you need to work on the skills in the order of the doors. Doors are numbered, this screenshot shows four of the numbered doors, the rest are numbered in a similar way in my version of the build that is on the gallery.

  1. Brown door: Reach Level 5 in the Handiness Skill (gives you a double bed & easel)
  2. Small door: Reach level 5 in the Guitar Skill (gives you a shower)
  3. White door: Reach Level 5 in the Painting Skill (gives you a BBQ & bar)
  4. Black door: Reach Level 5 in the Mixology Skill (this lets you go even further downstairs which leads to door 5)
  5. Small door: To open this door you need to find the seven hidden vases on the lot, this gives you access to a sauna, or if you don’t have Spa Day, the version built without Spa Day islands unlocks ‘Vintage Books’ so your sims can read what comes in that bookcase (no buying new books, especially skill books).
  6. Small door: Reach Level 6 in the cooking skill (you get access to some important items on the other island including a fridge, yoga mat and stool & if needed, a punching bag. )
  7. Small door: All of your Sims have to reach Level 5 in the Wellness skill (there is a chess table here, you will need to craft chairs to use it).
  8. Small door: All of your Sims have to reach Level 5 in the Logic skill to get the keys behind this door & access the underground exit off the island.

Optional: If you want to make it harder, make it necessary for all sims to reach level 5 of the respective skills before you can open the related door (versus just doing that for Door 7 & Door 8). I will be doing this in my Let’s Play.

Note there is no ‘pee bush’ on the island as the original challenge didn’t have one and one of the goals is to either have a sim max the handiness skill so you can add a toilet or earn enough reward points to buy steel bladder for your sim(s). However if you don’t like this part of the challenge, feel free to add one pee bush that will have to be shared if you have more than one sim. You will need Get Together or Jungle Adventures as the base game debug one doesn’t seem to allow you to interact with it. If you want to make it harder, hide the pee bush in the landscaping and only let them use it when you’ve unlocked the ability to move landscaping (i.e. reach level 5 of gardening).

Ways to get off the island when you complete the challenge:

  1. My updated version of the island has an underground tunnel from the last door that your sims can take to get off the island if you remove the rocks and overgrown foliage.
  2. Your sims may teleport off the island using cheats or with their wellness skill if it is high enough.
  3. If your sims are spellcasters, fly off using the brooms in the room with the keys.

  • Get your Sims on the big island using the teleport cheat (‘testingcheats on’ or ‘testingcheats true’) and “shift + click” (teleport here). If you don’t want to use cheats, use the version of the build with a temporary bridge. Remove the bridge once your sims are on the island.
  • There are plants, a workbench a fishing spot and a guitar waiting for you, so you have to start with gardening, wood working, guitar playing and fishing.
  • Eat the harvestables you harvest from the plants or go fishing and cook the fish using the fireplace.
  • To keep your Sims’ hygiene up, use the sink.
  • Your Sims won’t be able to use a toilet and will pee themselves UNTIL they craft a toilet UNLESS you get them in the swimming area just before they have to pee (this is base game).
  • Your sim will be able to learn some fitness while swimming & cooking when cooking fish over the fire.

  • You can have 1-4 Sims.
  • You can have as much money as you want (I have an option under my ‘added challenges’ section that changes this)
  • Your sims must pay the bills.
  • You can move any furniture you discover and find.
  • You can swim in the lagoon next to the waterfalls.

  • Leaving the lot with any of your Sims.
  • Buying random items from build/buy menu.
  • No moving/removing flowers/landscaping until your sim(s) reach level 5 of gardening.
  • Cooking marshmallows, hot dogs or veggie dogs.
  • Getting pregnant with a baby (if you decided against this rule, the baby must be born on the island and if you’re still there when they are a child, they can’t leave the island. You can buy a portable toddler bed, blocks & one toy for a toddler to use. If your sims max handiness and build a toilet, you can also buy a potty at that point).

BUILDING/BUYING RULES (during the challenge):

You’re only allowed to place walls, floors, doors and windows and only in a wooden look above ground (see walls already used as an example, anything similar will do).

Rock wall coverings/flooring are to be used in the caves.

The rest of the furniture is either gained through the discovered items in the locked rooms on the island or by building them on the work bench. You are allowed to live in the caves once all sims have reached level 5 of gardening and unlocked the ability to move the landscaping (ie flowers, bushes, rocks and grasses).

TIP: Master wood working as fast as possible to be able to build a toilet, this is much easier than having to time using the pool to pee.

  • Start with a four week summer, I have added some all year/summer plants to help with gardening.
  • I’m playing with teens. If you want to do the same, here is some info on what I’m doing with them (Seasons & Parenthood):
    • You can have them join Scouts just before they start, but they will miss any meetings which will hit their responsibility if you have Parenthood.
    • You can give them journals before they start (Parenthood required), however, they won’t be able to use them until you have one of your sims craft a table and chair.
    • Create a holiday on week days so your teens don’t have to go to school (I use the Gardening, Art & Music Spirit and Fire traditions, see screenshot for example).
Example of Holiday Used for Teens

  • (Seasons required) Have a beehive & have a sim reach level 5 of the flower arrangement skill. Your sims will probably get stung until you can make the ‘bee calming’ flower arrangement. If you don’t want to choose this option, remove the flower arranging table and beehive.
  • If any seats by the fireplace burn in a fire, have a sim craft any piece of furniture to represent crafting the seat. Once it is complete, sell the crafted piece of furniture & and replace the burnt seat.
  • Start with nothing & have your sims sell into their inventory to get money for crafting and paying the bills.

Original Scoring: For every Skill Level you reach you get 1 point. If one of your Sims dies you loose 10 points.

My Revised Scoring: For every Skill level your sims reach add 2 points. If any sims die, deduct 10 points. Divide that total by the number of sims you started with. Then deduct 0.5 points per day they were on the island.

Sims get the ‘glory’ of completing the challenge. They also get to keep the value of the island, furniture of their choosing, anything they’ve earned or crafted and any plants they wish to have.

This can be placed & played on any regular 50×50 lot (you can’t place it on a water lot in Sulani due to the underground ‘caves’). I moved the Landgraab’s and placed it on their lot in Oasis Springs. If you’d like to play along you can use my latest version of the lot, which has been updated to play with Seasons and to replace the fountain which was used for water with a pond. I have three versions, one with a bridge to get on the island (remove it once your sims are on the island), one without a bridge and one that doesn’t use Spa Day (this is with a bridge).

My original edited version is also on the gallery. The original lot was built by SimplyNando, link here as an FYI.

Other base game changes to the updated lot:

  • More fishing spots to help with the fishing aspiration.
  • More variety of base game plants if you want to start working on the freelance botanist aspiration & make some useful grafting combinations.
  • Underground exit added for when you complete the challenge.

Packs required as challenge was originally set up: Outdoor Retreat & Spa Day, however I have now uploaded a version of the island that doesn’t use Spa Day.

Substitution for wellness if you don’t have Spa Day: Change the requirement for goal 7 to have your sims reach level 5 of gourmet cooking instead of level 5 of Wellness. You will be able to work on gourmet cooking once you unlock door 6 as I placed counters there and you can make both fruit & yogurt parfait & caprese salad without a stove.

Note: I originally said to get to level 5 of fitness instead of wellness if you don’t have Spa Day, however, I have changed this goal now that I’ve further thought about it while renovating the island to not use Spa Day items (as stated above, this is the third version of this island on the gallery). The reason I changed it was because you can work on fitness before you reach this point, so I thought having a skill that stayed locked until you reached door 6 was more comparable since the wellness skill is also locked until you reach door 6. 😊

Link to my teen spellcaster sims if you’d like to play with the same sims. Aidan Wood is a genius sim who loves the outdoors with the quick learner trait from choosing a knowledge aspiration. Iris Cassidy is a creative sim who also loves the outdoors with the muser bonus trait for choosing a creativity aspiration.

Realm of Magic: Note if you use spellcasters they can practice and learn magic, but they can’t use the magic to help themselves, so no scuberoo to clean themselves or others. There are brooms placed in the final room with the keys, your spellcasters can use these to fly off the island.

Cottage Living:

If you wish to buy one hen and one rooster, there is a coop is on the island if you have the pack (this is optional, you don’t need to use it).

You can use the Simple Living lot challenge, however most barbecued foods require meat or meat substitutes which requires you to buy groceries, so this would definitely cut down on what your sims can cook. If you choose this option I’d love to hear how it goes!

Harvestables from Other Packs Placed on the Island:

There are some harvestables ready to plant from other packs, you can replace them with other harvestables before you start the challenge if you don’t have those packs. What’s included but not planted (season noted) are:

  • Cottage Living: blueberries (summer), raspberries (fall), choccoberries (year round) & verdant mushroom (year round).
  • Eco Lifestyle: soy beans (summer & fall)
  • Island Living: coconut (spring & summer), pineapple (spring & summer) & taro root (summer & spring)
  • Jungle Adventures: avocado (year round), two emotion berries (year round) & black beans (summer & fall)

Issues with Anti Virus Software & Sims 4

Sometimes your anti virus software can cause various issues with Sims 4. Please note that this isn’t a new issue and seems to happen randomly. ✅

⚠️ One of the main issues commonly seen when this happens is that mods and custom content don’t stay enabled after an update. ⚠️

However, your anti virus can cause other problems including, but not limited to:

  1. seeing red x’s in the gallery,
  2. being told you need to use the Legacy Version when you don’t,
  3. screenshots not saving to your screenshot folder.

✅Re the anti virus (which can include Windows Defender) blocking Origin/TS4 from updating the file, try adding both Origin and TS4 as trusted applications. For more information on how to do this, see Crinrict’s blog post about it: https://crinrict.com/blog/2020/10/add-exceptions-to-anti-virus-programs.html

Here’s a link to the bug report on EA AHQ about it: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues-PC/CURRENT-ISSUE-Anti-Virus-blocking-User-Folder-Screenshots/td-p/9572695

SimGuruNick had a suggestion after the December 2020 update which may help if the problem is caused by your anti-virus. The suggestion is to manually adjust your GameVersion.txt (in your TS4 folder, found under Documents\Electronic Arts) to the correct version.

Rosebud Revisited (Sims 4 Making Money Scenario)

I thought it would be fun to revisit the Rosebud Challenge now that there are a lot more ways to earn money in the game and scenarios, particularly the Making Money scenario has been added to the game! Playlist link.

I will be using my original Rosebud sims, the unskilled version, though they have been aged down to teens, so they are no longer married, and they have been made spellcasters and given minor makeovers. Since they are teens they only have two traits, you can see the traits I used for them in their screenshots. I am planning on having them become a couple again and to marry once they are young adults.

Jeremy Talbot
Eden Hope

To see how quickly they can have 1,000,000 simoleons, without cheats of course!

  1. Start on an empty lot with nothing (my sims are starting on ‘The Summer House’ in Windenburg).
  2. Start Off the Grid, repay the lot value to connect to the grid (in this case, 3,000 simoleons).
  3. Don’t sell into their inventory, either personal or household, until they have purchased a yard sale table and a street gallery (City Living is needed to have both of these items, customize this to whatever packs you have)
  4. Optional rules/goals if starting with teens. Don’t age them up to young adults until they have done the following:
    * become A high school students
    * earn the scouting trait (Seasons required)
    * have four positive character values (Parenthood required)
    * have a small home with a kitchen (i.e. they need to be able to bake the cake at home)

More Information

Note if you’d like to play along here is some more information re the challenge:

  1. You can play on any lifespan, or have aging off. I’m playing on a long lifespan.
  2. Apart from starting Off the Grid, you can choose whatever lot types/challenges you want and change them when you’d like. I will start with the Simple Living and Reduce & Recycle lot challenges in addition to the Off the Grid lot challenge.
  3. If you have Seasons you can do whatever you like with the weather/temperature options and the length of the seasons. I’m using 7 day seasons and will have all weather effects on unless there are too many thunderstorms/blizzards, then I may temporarily turn them off and then eventually turn them back on.
  4. Also with Seasons, feel fee to create custom holidays. I know I will!
  5. Whether or not you have a job is up to you. I’m going to go with the flow, if my sims get a job offer, I may take it. Freelance careers are also allowed. The goal is to find out how quickly you can earn the money any way you can without money cheats (to add money, they can be use to remove money).
  6. Feel free to renovate/replace/add community lots. Generally with this I only add things that are usually found on community lots in the game, one exception is I make my community lots toddler/family friendly. So I don’t build a shelter (i.e. a home away from home), but that’s the main restriction I follow.
  7. Overall if you have a pack that adds something to this challenge, feel free to use it if you’d like. That’s part of the fun of this, seeing how all the packs can help (or hinder), with the challenge.

If you’d like to play along with the same sims, let me know and I can upload them to the gallery.

Removing Money to ‘Connect to the Grid’

Here is the cheat needed to remove the money to connect to the grid.

Open the cheats console > control + shift + c (at the same time)
Then type: Testingcheats on or testingcheats true
Then type: Money # (where the # is the amount you want after the funds are removed.

Alternatively you can remove money without cheats. Two options I know of are:

  1. use manage households to move someone in and then move them out with the money you want removed or
  2. can use the option to gift the money away, though I’ve never tried this. 😊

Spellcaster Baby Challenge

1st Matriarch with 6 Kids/5 Pregnancies

Required Pack: Realm of Magic
Recommended Packs: Discover University (DU), Parenthood & Seasons
Optional Pack: Tiny Living

This was a challenge I came up with for fun offline play.

Start with a female teen spellcaster (or she may become one by asking a sage or using a spellcaster who knows the spell).

She will start with no money on an empty lot.

Can play on long lifespan but once the next matriarch is a teen, she takes over.

This will span three generations and ends when the last baby born becomes a young adult.

Each generation must have seven spellcaster babies, the youngest must be a female* as she will continue the line (use strawberries and listen to pop music to influence the gender).  Every pregnancy must be with a different father.  If any babies are not spellcasters you can either move them in to the father’s household or you can raise them yourself.  If you decide to raise them, they need to meet the same goals as the rest of the children. If you have multiples, only one of the babies counts towards the total as you need seven pregnancies resulting in seven magical babies.

Aspirations that each matriarch must complete:

  • Serial romantic
  • Both magic aspirations
  • Parenthood aspiration (if have Parenthood)
  • DU aspiration (if have DU)
  • Feel free to complete any other aspirations you wish, I recommend aspiration swapping to earn more reward points.

What qualifies as a spellcaster baby for each generation?

  • First generation of babies should have a weak bloodline trait at a minimum (the 2nd matriarch must have weak bloodline; it can’t be stronger)
  • Second generation of babies should have a strong bloodline trait (the 3rd matriarch must have strong bloodline; it can’t be stronger)
  • Third generation of babies should have an ancient bloodline trait.

Goals that need to be met before you can age up the different life stages:

Toddlers: must max all the toddler skills so they become top notch toddlers, then they can be aged up

Children: must complete all childhood aspirations

Teens: must be A students have at least 5 skills at level 5.

Pack specific goals for children/teens (incl first matriarch):

  • all children must complete all the scout badges, including the teen that becomes the first matriarch (for the ‘babies’, recommend starting as a child when as soon as they age up from toddler)

  • all children must have a minimum of four positive Parenthood values (except the teen who becomes the first matriarch, three is acceptable for her). I recommend starting on character values when they are children.
  • Warning: make sure your teen sims aren’t in a mood swing when they age up or they will die (i.e. have them work off any mood swings (embarrassed, playful, angry) before you age them up). If you use MCCC, feel free to turn off emotional deaths.

  • each matriarch must graduate with a distinguished degree and complete the DU knowledge aspiration.  They each must do enter a career from DU (per the aspiration), but each one must do a different career.
  • teens must prepare for university (level 3 of research and drama & qualify for 3 scholarships)

  • the generational home must be a tiny home residential lot, preferably micro or tiny. You can use roof space or any ‘tricks’ to expand the living space, but it must stay in that size for the full challenge. I have a few ‘micro’ homes on the gallery that gives examples of what you can do to add space (Origin ID MapleSimmer)

Note your matriarch will be able to hire whatever services they can, including a nanny and they will be able to work if you can handle looking for the baby daddies, raising children and if you have DU, going to school.  You can also add spellcasters from the gallery or your library to your save.

When you move any raised children out of the house, they must each be given a 20k next egg from the family’s household funds (i.e. no cheats). It’s up to you if you keep the matriarch in the house after the next generation matriarch is ready to begin, but if/when you move her out, she needs that minimum nest egg too.

You can use cheats/mods to help with game issues (i.e. to reset sims that are stuck, etc.) and you can use the moveobjects cheat.  You can’t use cheats for needs. Remember that most cheats disable trophies on console. Achievements on computer aren’t disabled by the use of cheats.

Clubs: Feel free to use clubs anywhere, including your home lot

Potions: Feel free to use potions if you want, including the needs potion

Lot Traits/Lot Challenges: Feel free to use and change these as you want.

As mentioned above, feel free to use MCCC to turn off emotional deaths.  If you think you can handle more than 8 sims in the household, feel free to expand the household size using MCCC if your computer can handle it.  Just remember to use the MCCC option for editing sims otherwise any sims over the household limit of 8 will be culled from the game.

*Note while I say to start with a female teen spellcaster, if you want to gender swap and have a male sim carry the babies, just set the ability to do that in CAS. Same goes for the sim carrying on the next generation, in that case you want to eat carrots and listen to alternative music. 😊

If you decide to try this challenge I’d love to hear how it goes, either in my Facebook group Sims Sanctuary or on Twitter @MapleSimmer

Rags to Wellness (Sims 4 Spa Day Refresh)

New Let’s Play starting today, Sept 10. Playlist link

In this challenge we are going to follow our teen Lily Lombardi.

Lily Lombardi, Spellcaster Teen
Loves the Outdoors & High Maintenance

She will be starting with nothing on an empty lot and she has two weeks to see how far she gets in the following goals:

  1. Learning the wellness skill,
  2. See how much money she can make with the wellness skill,
  3. See how much of the three new wellness aspirations she can complete.

During the two weeks of the challenge she must follow these rules:

  1. She can only make money from wellness,
  2. She can harvest plants/fish to eat, but not to sell.
  3. As an added challenge her home lot must have Simple Living Lot Challenge.

I started without the Simple Living challenge on the Spa Lot I’m using but I will be adding it starting with part 3. This means she will no longer have access to quick meals on the spa fridge but she will be able to make food from items harvested the world/groceries she bought. A cooler has been placed so she has access to limited quick meals.

House 8 Drifter Challenge: Overview

House 8 of the Drifter Challenge is scheduled to return on September 2, 2021.

Playlist link

After living a sheltered life, our new drifter Hannah Driver, returns to her grandmother’s world of Willow Creek to start her first day with nothing in an empty neighborhood (lot is Parkshore, the neighbourhood the Goth’s usually live in).

Will she be up to the following challenges?:

  1. As a minimum create a 5 bedroom, 2 bathroom house worth at least 50k simoleons,
  2. Achieve level 10 of the Author Branch of the Writer Career,
    * She must adopt a baby upon her 1st, 2nd & 3rd promotions.
  3. All three adopted sims, as well as the Heir, must each complete one Child Aspiration, and
  4. Produce & raise the Heir to the Young Adult life stage.

Additional Optional Goals that I will attempt with the Drifter:

  1. Max the cooking & parenting skill, possibly knitting skill (optional goals from Vihisha’s blog post)
  2. Complete the writing aspiration, and
  3. Complete the Super Parent Aspiration.

Additional Optional Goals that I will attempt with each of the adopted children & the Heir:

  1. Become top notch toddlers (ie max the 4 needed toddler skills),
  2. Complete all four child aspirations,
  3. Get all Scout badges & earn the scouting aptitude reward trait,
  4. As teens all must be A High School students,
  5. Try to max either drama club or one part time career as teens, and
  6. They must have at least 4 positive character values when they age up to young adult.

In this house we can control the Drifter, the 3 adopted children & the Heir. 😊

Exceptions are as follows:

(screenshot is from Vihisha’s blog post as of Sept 1, 2021)

The ability to leave your home lot is limited, usually you need 1,000 simoleons and where you can travel to is set by house. Here is a screenshot of the details, again screenshot is from Vihisha’s blog post as of Sept 1, 2021 (Note the club gatherings should say ‘Get Together needed’, not ‘City Living’. 😊 ):

Some exceptions or amendments that I do re places that can be visited is that I include Bars and Lounges as ‘Nightclubs’ as they act similar to Nightclubs. I also host club gatherings at gyms and museums.

Cottage Living Rags to Riches (Sims 4)

Kendrick Barker-Ito and Willow Fitz-Moon became best friends as children, just like their moms from my Snowy Escape Rags to Riches LP. They are now teens and similar to what their moms did as teens, they are now ready to embark on their own rags to riches adventure, for them it will be in Henford-on-Bagley!

Challenge Playlist (this will go live at 1 pm Eastern on Aug 7, 2021)

Cottage Living Create a Sim overview (this will go live at 12:45 pm Eastern on Aug 7, 2021) *

Goals for this Challenge:

  1. At least one, probably both, will complete the new aspiration. Note that Kendrick is the main sim who needs to complete this aspiration.
  2. Raise animals (a cow, a lama and chickens).
  3. Try to befriend both bunnies & birds & get at least one of each to help with the gardening.
  4. Complete some village errands.
  5. Complete and keep as many cross stitch patterns as they can (between the two of them).
  6. Buy/unlock as many animal outfits as we can.
  7. Willow will complete the Knitting Aspiration and we will try to unlock as many CAS knitting items as we can.
  8. Before aging up to young adults they both need to:
    • get a grade A in high school,
    • max the manual labourer career (part time), and
    • have at least 4 positive character values
  9. Hopefully these best friends will become something more and they’ll end up having a family together once they become young adults.
  10. Both will complete the fortune aspiration.

Note we will start with the following lot challenges:

  1. Simple Living (Cottage Living)
  2. Off the Grid (Base Game)
  3. Reduce and Recycle (Eco Lifestyle)

To remove the Off the Grid lot challenge they will have to pay a fee of 10,000 simoleons. We may remove the the Simple Living lot challenge once one of them maxes both the cooking and gourmet cooking skill, however they will still need to buy the ingredients except for seaweed (there’s currently a reported issue with that, see EA AHQ link).

Our sims becoming Best Friends Forever as children

  1. To start with nothing with a goal to get rich (in this case to complete the fortune aspiration as noted above).
  2. To not use painting as a way to make money until they have at a minimum completed the first three tiers of the fortune aspiration (the only exception is if we decided to work on the painting aspiration before they meet this goal, they may sell their 3 cheapest paintings to the collector for the second tier of the painting aspiration).
  3. Generally to follow the rules from my Rags to Riches guidelines, one exception is that our sims will have part time ‘jobs’ as teens since that’s included in my goals noted above: https://maplesimmer.video.blog/2020/05/05/sims-4-rags-to-riches-guidelines/

Note the lifespan I’ve chosen is ‘long’.

Here are our sims and their traits:

Homeless Decorator (Sims 4 Dream Home Decorator Rags to Riches)

My latest let’s play is a rags to riches with Dream Home Decorator. 😊

Our decorator is spellcaster Eileen Blake-Driver, who is the child from my Rags to Riches Discover University Let’s Play (‘LP’). She has recently aged up to a young adult; I thought it would be fun to use someone with some history from my other LP’s and Elaine has lots of history since her mom Dora Driver was originally born in house 3 of my Drifter Challenge (the twin of the heir Dominique) and her dad Noah Blake was from my Foster Child LP 😊 .

Eileen also has responsibility for her younger brother Colin, who is still a child, as their parents are out of contact in the jungles of Selvadorada. They thought they were moving to a small furnished home in Glimmerbrook, unfortunately it was unsafe and it took the last of Elaine’s funds to demolish it so they are now starting with nothing!

The first part went live on Saturday, June 12, 2021. Link to the playlist

1) Become a Decorator and max the career.

2) After starting with nothing, build a two bedroom, one bathroom furnished home.

1) In the first two weeks only make money from her job, photography (mainly selling photos from her job) and if she has time, from handiness.

2) After two weeks we will revisit this limitation and decide if we need to use other ways to make money to meet goal 2) from above.

Update, you unlock the ability to write design books in the Decorator career. Once you unlock this, feel free to also make money from books.

If you’d like to play along, Eileen and her brother Colin are on the gallery.

Ignore the alternate form of Eileen, that’s currently a visual glitch with spellcasters born in game. Unlike other occults (ie Aliens, Vampires & Mermailds), Spellcaster don’t have alternate forms.

If you’d like to see Eileen’s mom’s challenge, and eventually watch Eileen as a toddler and child, here’s a link to my Rags to Riches Discover University Let’s Play:  https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLyPCBQSeZfrIrWL1uFuBK7FXQYL5IZ_Wl
