Sims 4 Legacy Version Information

Note: as of Oct 14/19, release date still hasn’t been announced, it was originally scheduled for June 2019    
This overview includes:
1) Important Announcement from the EA Team re system support of old systems (this was made in March 2019).
2) How to find out what type of operating system you are on for Windows.
3) How to find out if this affects you as a Mac user
I expect that the majority of Windows computers are 64 bit system so this is not likely to affect that many Windows players. I can’t speak for the Mac players. For those it affects, there will be a legacy edition of the game available around June 2019, but you won’t get new updates after June 2019, you will not be able to buy new content released after February 2019 nor will you have access to the gallery. Exact timing has not been released yet.

1) IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE EA TEAM

June 10, 2019 Update:

Per SimGuruDuke, the roll out of the legacy version has been delayed. This means that those who will eventually be affected will be able to add Island Living to their game. https://twitter.com/SimGuruDuke/status/1138245606709686273

“Today we are announcing some changes to the supported specifications for The Sims 4™ on PC and Mac. As of June 2019, we will no longer support The Sims 4 on Non-Metal Mac OS machines or PC 32-bit Operating Systems.”
“There will be a ‘The Sims 4™: Legacy Edition’ available for those who cannot update. This change is tentatively planned for June 2019. The Gallery, game banners, and social integrations will be disabled. The Sims 4: Legacy Edition will not display or allow any purchases of content released after February 2019.”

You will be able to purchase and play all Stuff, Game and Expansion packs released between September 2, 2014 and February 26, 2019. Content released after February 2019 will require you to upgrade your system.

Will custom content still work with The Sims 4: Legacy Edition?

It will be up to the custom content or mod developer to decide to support their custom content for both The Sims 4 and The Sims 4: Legacy Edition.

Will there be different versions of The Sims 4: Legacy Edition for Non-Metal Mac OS and 32-bit PC OS?

There will be one version of The Sims 4: Legacy Edition that you will be able to download.

Will my save files still work in The Sims 4: Legacy Edition?

Yes, save files will still work with The Sims 4: Legacy Edition. Instructions on “how to” will be published once The Sims 4: Legacy Edition is released.”

2) How to Find Out if you are on a 32 or 64 bit System in Windows:

You can find out what version of Windows you have by going into your system information. To do this on Windows 8 or 10, right mouse click on your windows icon on the bottom left hand corner of your screen.  Then select ‘System’, which will pull up your system information.  The System Type will indicate if it is 32 bit or 64 bit.

New House on the Gallery

The completed house for House 3 of the Drifter Challenge is now on the gallery.
This is a family one story home with 4 bedrooms/4 bathroom on the main floor and 2 more bedrooms and 1 bathroom in the basement.
 
Garage was converted to greenhouse. Lot also features a perfect money tree (Seasons required), perfect forbidden fruit tree, a cow plant, other sundry plants & 5 collected cow plant essences (on shelf in main room of the basement, by the cow plant picture painted by my drifter 😊).
No CC, play-tested, 177,718 simoleons on a 30×20 lot

Information on the Drifter Challenge:

The Drifter Challenge is a challenge created by the lovely Lady Vi and you start with both Willow Creek and Oasis Springs empty, except for one restaurant if you have Dine Out. It can be thought of as a generation challenge as well as a building challenge, which each generation, or ‘house’, starts with no money on an empty lot and each ‘house’ has its own set of goals. As you meet certain goals over the generations, or ‘houses’ as they are called, you can also start adding certain community lots (which you can build or download from the gallery or add the original lots back if you’ve saved them in your library). It’s a good way to examine a lot of different elements in the game, and you can skip any generation you don’t want to do. Description: Family and toddler friendly park for Newcrest. Includes the usual park items as well as rare fishing pond, toddler jungle gym, pool, wading pool, basketball, yoga items (mats & stool), easels, mural & secret gaming room which can be made exclusive to clubs.
Secret gaming room is found under the bathrooms and it includes computers, gaming items, void critter station, a full kitchen & more bathrooms so members (or whomever is using it 😊 ) don’t have to go upstairs.  Originally seen in my #Parenthood LP now fixed & UPDATED for Seasons & Pets.  Now has swings, instruments, Get Famous music station & is pet friendly. #NoCC

Blue Cottage

I just uploaded a 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath single story family home with a small basement which can be expanded and finished to the gallery. There are a few flowers planted in indoor planters in the shed off the kitchen, ready for some flower arranging.

Felicity has recently developed an interest in drama and she was able to get her parents to agree that she and Jasper could go to a summer drama camp in Del Sol Valley. Jasper is still more into Scouts, but wanted to tag along with his sister.

Unfortunately their reservation and payment somehow went missing and to top it off, they were robbed of everything but a few basic belongings. They don’t want to tell their parents as they think their parents will make them return home. However, since their parents are busy, they really want to try and survive the summer and summer school all on their own. They are even more determined to succeed in this endeavor since their mom has overcome similar obstacles when she was younger. Will they be successful?

I ended up choosing Alien Encounters Challenge as the title of my new Let’s Play as it seemed to encompass the fact that the Let’s Play was a challenge and that the main goal was to somehow encounter aliens! 😊

Sims 4 DLC (Downloadable Content)

I see a lot of people ask for recommendations on what pack to buy for Sims 4 so this is my introduction to the original three types and some sources for detailed information on the packs. I also have a brief write up on each of the packs currently available, which also link to my Let’s Plays, Challenges or tutorials for some of the packs. For those trying to decide, they will follow in separate blog points, which I also link here.😊

Keep in mind there are four types of packs, or DLC (downloadable content) for The Sims 4. The original three types are expansion, game and stuff pack with the fourth type, kits, being added in March 2021. Kits are seen as mini collections that focus on one thing and are considered very niche and they aren’t expected to appeal to everyone. Three different types of kits were released at launch. One focused on create a sim (Throwback Fit), one on build/buy mode (Country Kitchen) and one on Game Play (Bust the Dust). It was explained at the launch that going forward EA would likely just release one kit at a time.

The best pack for you, be it expansion, game or stuff pack and even kits, really depends on how you like to play. For example, someone who likes to play with families will probably prefer something different than someone who likes occult sims or from someone who mainly likes to build, etc.

If you want to see a detailed look at each Sims 4 DLC, I find the Carl Sims 4 Guide is a good source, this covers all expansion and game packs as well as stuff packs up to Vintage Glamour, so I’d recommend them as a source to look through to help you in your decision. http://www.carls-sims-4-guide.com/expansionpacks/

If you want to see what comes in each pack, ie cas/build/buy items, Origin will show you or you can look on YouTube for reviews as the reviewers usually show you what comes in the pack.
