House 9 Drifter Challenge: Overview

House 9 of the Drifter Challenge is premiering on Sunday, February 20, 2022 at 1 pm Eastern.

Playlist link

After living a sheltered life, our new drifter Isobel Driver, along with our secondary sim Izaiah Kuro (see poll), returns to her grandmother’s world & neighbourhood (Parched Prospect in Oasis Springs) to start her first day with nothing on the Vista Quarry lot, which is the neighbourhood the Roomies usually live in.

Will they be up to the following challenges?:

  1. Disguise your home (example: underground lair that looks like a park above ground)
  2. Achieve level 10 of the Diamond Agent branch of the Secret Agent Career on The Drifter
  3. Achieve level 11 of the Villain branch of the Secret Agent Career on The Secondary Sim
*Upon reaching Field Agent (level 4) of the Secret Agent Career, access to the following Lot type has been unlocked:
Gym Lots Those playing the full 24 House Challenge may now place a Gym Lot on Burners and Builders in Oasis Springs world
  4. Produce and raise The Heir to the Young Adult life stage
-Select at least one of the following Traits on The Heir:
    Active
Vegetarian Trait (City Living no longer needed, this is now a base game trait)
    Adventurous (Snowy Escape needed)
*When The Heir reaches the Young Adult stage, you must stop game play and save if you are continuing on to House 010

Additional Optional Goals that I will attempt with the Drifter & or secondary sim:

  1. Visit Batuu (based on optional goal from Vihisha’s blog post of completing one or more of the JTB aspirations)
  2. Complete the Nerd Brain aspiration (will use the Simvasion mod to fix the rocket fix issue if it doesn’t get fixed),
  3. Have both the drifter and the secondary sim complete the athletic aspiration, and
  4. Have our Drifter try to complete the Cottage Living aspiration (winning the fair is somewhat problematic, so at a minimum complete all other goals of that aspiration).

In this house we can control the Drifter & the secondary sim. 😊

Exceptions are as follows:

per Vihisha’s blog post as of Feb 19, 2022

(screenshot is from Vihisha’s blog post as of Feb 19, 2022)

The ability to leave your home lot is limited, usually you need 1,000 simoleons and where you can travel to is set by house. Here is a screenshot of the details, again screenshot is from Vihisha’s blog post as of Feb 19, 2022 (Note the club gatherings should say ‘Get Together needed’, not ‘City Living’. 😊 ):

Some exceptions or amendments that I do re places that can be visited is that I include Bars and Lounges as ‘Nightclubs’ as they act similar to Nightclubs. I also host club gatherings at museums (for prior houses, I would hold club gatherings at gyms, for this house we will wait until that unlocks).

Rosebud Revisited (Sims 4 Making Money Scenario)

I thought it would be fun to revisit the Rosebud Challenge now that there are a lot more ways to earn money in the game and scenarios, particularly the Making Money scenario has been added to the game! Playlist link.

I will be using my original Rosebud sims, the unskilled version, though they have been aged down to teens, so they are no longer married, and they have been made spellcasters and given minor makeovers. Since they are teens they only have two traits, you can see the traits I used for them in their screenshots. I am planning on having them become a couple again and to marry once they are young adults.

Jeremy Talbot
Eden Hope

Goals

To see how quickly they can have 1,000,000 simoleons, without cheats of course!

Rules

  1. Start on an empty lot with nothing (my sims are starting on ‘The Summer House’ in Windenburg).
  2. Start Off the Grid, repay the lot value to connect to the grid (in this case, 3,000 simoleons).
  3. Don’t sell into their inventory, either personal or household, until they have purchased a yard sale table and a street gallery (City Living is needed to have both of these items, customize this to whatever packs you have)
  4. Optional rules/goals if starting with teens. Don’t age them up to young adults until they have done the following:
    * become A high school students
    * earn the scouting trait (Seasons required)
    * have four positive character values (Parenthood required)
    * have a small home with a kitchen (i.e. they need to be able to bake the cake at home)

More Information

Note if you’d like to play along here is some more information re the challenge:

  1. You can play on any lifespan, or have aging off. I’m playing on a long lifespan.
  2. Apart from starting Off the Grid, you can choose whatever lot types/challenges you want and change them when you’d like. I will start with the Simple Living and Reduce & Recycle lot challenges in addition to the Off the Grid lot challenge.
  3. If you have Seasons you can do whatever you like with the weather/temperature options and the length of the seasons. I’m using 7 day seasons and will have all weather effects on unless there are too many thunderstorms/blizzards, then I may temporarily turn them off and then eventually turn them back on.
  4. Also with Seasons, feel fee to create custom holidays. I know I will!
  5. Whether or not you have a job is up to you. I’m going to go with the flow, if my sims get a job offer, I may take it. Freelance careers are also allowed. The goal is to find out how quickly you can earn the money any way you can without money cheats (to add money, they can be use to remove money).
  6. Feel free to renovate/replace/add community lots. Generally with this I only add things that are usually found on community lots in the game, one exception is I make my community lots toddler/family friendly. So I don’t build a shelter (i.e. a home away from home), but that’s the main restriction I follow.
  7. Overall if you have a pack that adds something to this challenge, feel free to use it if you’d like. That’s part of the fun of this, seeing how all the packs can help (or hinder), with the challenge.

If you’d like to play along with the same sims, let me know and I can upload them to the gallery.

Removing Money to ‘Connect to the Grid’

Here is the cheat needed to remove the money to connect to the grid.

Open the cheats console > control + shift + c (at the same time)
Then type: Testingcheats on or testingcheats true
Then type: Money # (where the # is the amount you want after the funds are removed.

Alternatively you can remove money without cheats. Two options I know of are:

  1. use manage households to move someone in and then move them out with the money you want removed or
  2. can use the option to gift the money away, though I’ve never tried this. 😊

Spellcaster Baby Challenge

1st Matriarch with 6 Kids/5 Pregnancies

Required Pack: Realm of Magic
Recommended Packs: Discover University (DU), Parenthood & Seasons
Optional Pack: Tiny Living

This was a challenge I came up with for fun offline play.

Start with a female teen spellcaster (or she may become one by asking a sage or using a spellcaster who knows the spell).

She will start with no money on an empty lot.

Can play on long lifespan but once the next matriarch is a teen, she takes over.

This will span three generations and ends when the last baby born becomes a young adult.

Each generation must have seven spellcaster babies, the youngest must be a female* as she will continue the line (use strawberries and listen to pop music to influence the gender).  Every pregnancy must be with a different father.  If any babies are not spellcasters you can either move them in to the father’s household or you can raise them yourself.  If you decide to raise them, they need to meet the same goals as the rest of the children. If you have multiples, only one of the babies counts towards the total as you need seven pregnancies resulting in seven magical babies.

Aspirations that each matriarch must complete:

  • Serial romantic
  • Both magic aspirations
  • Parenthood aspiration (if have Parenthood)
  • DU aspiration (if have DU)
  • Feel free to complete any other aspirations you wish, I recommend aspiration swapping to earn more reward points.

What qualifies as a spellcaster baby for each generation?

  • First generation of babies should have a weak bloodline trait at a minimum (the 2nd matriarch must have weak bloodline; it can’t be stronger)
  • Second generation of babies should have a strong bloodline trait (the 3rd matriarch must have strong bloodline; it can’t be stronger)
  • Third generation of babies should have an ancient bloodline trait.

Goals that need to be met before you can age up the different life stages:

Toddlers: must max all the toddler skills so they become top notch toddlers, then they can be aged up

Children: must complete all childhood aspirations

Teens: must be A students have at least 5 skills at level 5.

Pack specific goals for children/teens (incl first matriarch):

SEASONS

  • all children must complete all the scout badges, including the teen that becomes the first matriarch (for the ‘babies’, recommend starting as a child when as soon as they age up from toddler)

PARENTHOOD

  • all children must have a minimum of four positive Parenthood values (except the teen who becomes the first matriarch, three is acceptable for her). I recommend starting on character values when they are children.
  • Warning: make sure your teen sims aren’t in a mood swing when they age up or they will die (i.e. have them work off any mood swings (embarrassed, playful, angry) before you age them up). If you use MCCC, feel free to turn off emotional deaths.

DISCOVER UNIVERSITY

  • each matriarch must graduate with a distinguished degree and complete the DU knowledge aspiration.  They each must do enter a career from DU (per the aspiration), but each one must do a different career.
  • teens must prepare for university (level 3 of research and drama & qualify for 3 scholarships)

TINY LIVING

  • the generational home must be a tiny home residential lot, preferably micro or tiny. You can use roof space or any ‘tricks’ to expand the living space, but it must stay in that size for the full challenge. I have a few ‘micro’ homes on the gallery that gives examples of what you can do to add space (Origin ID MapleSimmer)

Note your matriarch will be able to hire whatever services they can, including a nanny and they will be able to work if you can handle looking for the baby daddies, raising children and if you have DU, going to school.  You can also add spellcasters from the gallery or your library to your save.

When you move any raised children out of the house, they must each be given a 20k next egg from the family’s household funds (i.e. no cheats). It’s up to you if you keep the matriarch in the house after the next generation matriarch is ready to begin, but if/when you move her out, she needs that minimum nest egg too.

Cheats/Mods:

You can use cheats/mods to help with game issues (i.e. to reset sims that are stuck, etc.) and you can use the moveobjects cheat.  You can’t use cheats for needs. Remember that most cheats disable trophies on console. Achievements on computer aren’t disabled by the use of cheats.

Clubs: Feel free to use clubs anywhere, including your home lot

Potions: Feel free to use potions if you want, including the needs potion

Lot Traits/Lot Challenges: Feel free to use and change these as you want.

As mentioned above, feel free to use MCCC to turn off emotional deaths.  If you think you can handle more than 8 sims in the household, feel free to expand the household size using MCCC if your computer can handle it.  Just remember to use the MCCC option for editing sims otherwise any sims over the household limit of 8 will be culled from the game.

*Note while I say to start with a female teen spellcaster, if you want to gender swap and have a male sim carry the babies, just set the ability to do that in CAS. Same goes for the sim carrying on the next generation, in that case you want to eat carrots and listen to alternative music. 😊

If you decide to try this challenge I’d love to hear how it goes, either in my Facebook group Sims Sanctuary or on Twitter @MapleSimmer

Sims 4 Ghost Hunters Challenge

With the arrival of the Paranormal Stuff Pack I thought it would be fun to do a challenge! The let’s play of this challenge will be coming to my channel later today. I’ll add the link when it’s available.

The premise behind the challenge is to have a sim or sim and their family, depending on how you like to play, start with no simoleons in an empty, haunted house. If you wish, the house can have a fireplace and the painting of Guidry, though this will increase the starting value of the home that you will need to pay off.

Challenge Goals:

  1. Earn enough money to do the following:
    • Furnish and decorate the house (home must be fully functional once it’s furnished),
    • Pay off an expert to rid the house of the ghosts permanently (the value of the lot and house when you started, use cheats 📝 to remove the money once you have the funds) and
    • Have a small nest egg leftover (you can set this up front, if you’d like an easier challenge, then 25k, if you want it to be harder have a goal to complete the fortune aspiration and also have a nest egg of 100k).
  2. Your main sim also has to:
    • max the 5 level medium skill
    • become a freelance Paranormal Investigator
    • successfully complete at least 15 gigs, at least 3 each of each type (easy, medium and hard)
  3. Collect and keep at least 5 unique items obtained from Specters.

Once all the goals have been completed the house can be turned back into a regular residential lot and your sim(s) can carry on with their regular lives.

Rules:

Cheats can be used to give your sims the home, to remove money and to reset them when needed, but not to give your sims an advantage. Other rules/guidelines are the same as those in my Rags to Riches Challenge Guidelines as this is just a variation on a rags to riches challenge.

📝 Cheats Used:

  1. ‘Freerealestate on’ to move your sim(s) into the house.
  2. ‘Testingcheats on’ or ‘testingcheats true’ and then ‘money 0’ to set your funds to nothing 🔷
  3. To remove the money, calculate what your money should be after deducting the original value of the house and lot then use the same money cheat used to set your funds to nothing.

🔷 If you don’t want to use the money cheat, temporarily add a sim to your household and then move them out and transfer the money you want to remove from the household with them (this would include any money they brought in with them).

Here are the gallery links if you wish to play along with the same family and their home.

If you have any questions, feel free to comment here or to head over to my Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/MapleSimmer/

Alternatively, you can come join my Facebook group and share how you do in this challenge, or in anything sims related, be it sim creation, sim builds or your sims stories &/or challenges! Rags to Riches: Snowy Escape Edition

I’m back with another Rags to Riches, this time the focus is the new expansion Snowy Escape.

Link is here and the first part starts Sunday, Dec 6, 2020 at 1 pm

In this Let’s Play we are following our teens Alice Barker and Celeste FitzRoberts, both are spellcasters who were born in my Life After Foster Challenge LP. They’ve decided to set out to the new world of Mt Komorebi and take on the challenge of starting with nothing. Their parents have given them the summer (2 sim weeks) to get established (ie get a small home) and if they do they can stay and continue to pursue their dreams.

Goals for this challenge:

  1. Get a small home by the end of the summer (two sim weeks). All days are vacation days so they do not need to attend school during the summer.
  2. Reach the top of the drama club that they are currently in before they can quit.
  3. Maintain their positive character values (at least 4).
  4. They must have/get a grade A in high school.
  5. Both must max the rock climbing skill and at least one of the other two new skills (snowboarding and skiing).
  6. They both must complete the two new aspirations.
  7. Complete the new Simmi collection.
  8. Vacation in at least two other worlds.
  9. Reach a total value of 200,000 at a minimum (ie total of the home’s value and their money).
  10. At least one must marry and have a child when they become a young adult.
  11. Someone in the household must join the Salaryperson career and at a minimum reach the point where they choose their branch (this can be a spouse/significant other that comes in later).
  12. See how famous they can be as skiiers/snowboarders (requires Get Famous).

Rules/Guidelines for this challenge:

  1. Our sims start with no money on an empty lot and they must pay off the value of the items they brought with them, excluding the homework books, before buying anything (two journals & one crocus, value is 53). Generally to follow the rules from my Rags to Riches guidelines, link here: https://maplesimmer.video.blog/2020/05/05/sims-4-rags-to-riches-guidelines/
  2. Note the lifespan I’ve chosen is ‘long’, if you’d like to play along you can choose the lifespan you want.
  3. If our sims want to go to other worlds they must vacation there (exception is using glimmerstone to go to Magic HQ, visiting a vet clinic if they get a pet and it’s ill, going to the hospital & if they start university, visiting the campus or library). For the purposes of this challenge, Willow Creek, Newcrest & Magnolia Promenade are considered one world and Oasis Springs & Del Sol Valley are considered another world. Rental lots have been placed in one of every world except Strangerville, Forgotten Hollow & Britechester.
  4. If anyone moves in they can’t bring any money or furniture with them. If they do, use cheats to remove the money.

Character Background & Related Let’s Plays:

Alice & Cecile were born and raised until they were teens in my Life After Foster Child Let’s Play if you’d like to see them when they were younger.

While that let’s play focused on their parents as young adults, their parents were originally from my Foster Child Challenge Let’s Play.

Alice’s mother is Jasmine Barker (father is Darrell Charm who came with Realm of Magic) and Cecile’s parents are Eviee Roberts and Clark Fitzgerald. Please note that both Jasmine Barker & Eviee Roberts were provided as toddlers by BeckyXD (Origin ID) and raised to young adults in my Foster Child Challenge. Evie met her now husband Clark as a teen & he joined the Foster Child family and was raised to a young adult and they then married at the end of the challenge. 😊

If you’d like to play along, here’s a link to where they are on the gallery or if you prefer to play with my save, which has their family and the Foster Child Challenge sims. It has been updated to add rental lots to many residential worlds as noted above in rule 3 and updated commercial lots. This save may use items from all packs up to and including Snowy Escape.
Maple Simmer Snowy Escape Save

If you do play along I’d love to see how they do, come join my new Facebook group and share their adventures, or any of your sims, sim builds and their adventures! Sims Sanctuary

It’s also a great place to ask me any Sims related questions you may have. 😊

7 Toddler Let’s Play Vote

7ToddlerR2RFacesThPt01FB

We’re almost finished with this challenge* so I’d like to know if you’d like to see the family continue in a ‘Super Kids Challenge‘ where the goals for the seven toddlers, once they are newly aged up to children, to do the following:

  1. To max all four childhood aspirations;
  2. To complete all their scout badges; and
  3. To get their character values in a positive range.

While the children are working on those goals, Norah would continue to work on her fortune, painting and gardening aspirations.  We’ll also see how green we can make their Newcrest neighbourhood. 😊

Here’s a link to the poll for the vote, voting will be open until 11:59 PM Eastern, Friday, June 26, 2020:

Regardless of how the vote turns out, after the toddlers age up to children I’ll put both the family and their home, as it is when the challenge ends, on the gallery in case anyone wants to continue with them.  I’ll update this post with the gallery links when they are up on the gallery.😊

Rags to Riches: Eco Lifestyle Edition

ELThumbPt01FB

Playlist Link

Meet our Sims:

We are starting with a young married couple & the husband’s mother, all of whom are spellcasters, who have recently arrived in Port Promise with a dream to build an eco-friendly home and make the neighbourhood a better place. They’ve used all their money for their trip so are now starting with nothing.

Conor Moon:

ConorMoonwTraits

Conor is a young adult who is a Maker, a Green Fiend and a Genius, who’s also a Collector due to his Nature Aspiration.

Melody Collins-Moon:

MelodyCMoonwTraits

Melody is Conor’s young adult wife who is Creative, a Green Fiend, Family Oriented and a Muser from choosing a Creative Aspiration.

Deirdre Moon:

DeirdreMoonwTraits

Deirdre is Conor’s adult mother, who is Family Oriented, a Freegan and a Maker with the Domestic trait from choosing a Family Aspiration.

If you’d like to play along with this family, they are on the gallery, here’s a link:
https://tinyurl.com/y9ts2cpn

Challenge Goals:

  1. For Conor & Melody to both:
    • max the Civil Designer career with each taking a different branch
    • to complete the Eco Innovator aspiration.
  2. For both Melody & her mother in law Deirdre to complete the new Maker aspiration.
  3. For them all to turn Port Promise from having an Industrial footprint to having a Green footprint.
  4. For them to build a home that is eco friendly & if possible to generate more power & water than they use.
  5. For them all to complete the fortune aspiration.
  6. In connection with the ‘green initiative’, Deirdre will complete the Botanist aspiration.
  7. Since Deirdre is a freegan we will try to furnish as much as possible using things we find & repair or that we create ourselves.
  8. Bonus Goal: For Conor & Melody to have a family.😊

Rules:

  1. To start with nothing with a goal to get rich (in this case to complete the fortune aspiration as noted above).
  2. Generally to follow the rules from my Rags to Riches guidelines, one exception is that our sims will have ‘jobs’ since that’s needed to complete their goals; link here:
    https://maplesimmer.video.blog/2020/05/05/sims-4-rags-to-riches-guidelines/
  3. Note the lifespan I’ve chosen is ‘long’, anyone playing along can choose what they want.
  4. Optional added challenges:
    1. Build/Buy rules – can only purchase from build/buy mode things that can’t be crafted or are known to be found in the dumpster. Timing of these purchases is limited to:
      • Mondays after the Neighborhood voting is done.
      • if the family has children, you can do one-off purchases of what you need for the child as they enter new lifespans (for example when a baby ages up to a toddler and a toddler ages up to a child.
