I’m going to attempt the Plant-a-Sim Scenario with my young adult sim Fern Pruett; the twist? She’s starting with nothing (see note 💰 below) on an empty, albeit beautiful, lot in Sulani (Key Point).
How long will it take her to complete the scenario and will she have a home by the time it’s completed? Playlist link (first part went live today, April 17, 2022).
Meet My Sim:
Here is what Fern looked like before she became a PlantSim. She is creative, loves the outdoors and an animal enthusiast with the freelance botanist aspiration.
Details on Becoming a Plant Sim:
Here is the notification the game gives when your sim becomes a PlantSim. Keep in mind only non occult sims can become PlantSim. I tried with a spellcaster and when she ate the forbidden fruit, nothing happened!
Plant-a-Sim Scenario Goals:
Written Summary of Plant-a-Sim Scenario Goals:
Eat the ‘Forbidden Fruit of the PlantSim” from your inventory
1 time
Have your PlantSim Talk to Plants
5 times
Harvest from a Perfect Quality plant
1 time
Satisfy Water Needs
5 times
Absorb solar energy from plants
5 times
Photosynhesize by absorbing sunlight
25 times
Care for Plants as a PlantSim
99 times
💰 Rags to Riches Element:
Note that while I am doing this as a rags to riches challenge, your sim is given 5 forbidden fruit and one starter package of vegetables. I am letting my sim keep them.
No selling into inventory/directly off the plants until your sim buys a yard sale table. Some ways to make money are to do odd jobs (requires Island Living) or to sell items, including harvestables and fish, at the grocery and plant ‘shops’ (requires Cottage Living) or flowers to the plant shop (requires My Wedding Stories).
For more Rags to Riches guidelines, see my blog post.
Note I have no target for money earned, this is just an added element to see how my sim manages after starting with no money or home, and only the items given to her for the Plant-a-Sim Scenario.
After living a sheltered life, our new drifter Isobel Driver, along with our secondary sim Izaiah Kuro (see poll), returns to her grandmother’s world & neighbourhood (Parched Prospect in Oasis Springs) to start her first day with nothing on the Vista Quarry lot, which is the neighbourhood the Roomies usually live in.
Will they be up to the following challenges?:
Disguise your home (example: underground lair that looks like a park above ground)
Achieve level 10 of the Diamond Agent branch of the Secret Agent Career on The Drifter
Achieve level 11 of the Villain branch of the Secret Agent Career on The Secondary Sim *Upon reaching Field Agent (level 4) of the Secret Agent Career, access to the following Lot type has been unlocked: Gym Lots Those playing the full 24 House Challenge may now place a Gym Lot on Burners and Builders in Oasis Springs world
Produce and raise The Heir to the Young Adult life stage -Select at least one of the following Traits on The Heir: Active Vegetarian Trait (City Living no longer needed, this is now a base game trait) Adventurous (Snowy Escape needed) *When The Heir reaches the Young Adult stage, you must stop game play and save if you are continuing on to House 010
Additional Optional Goals that I will attempt with the Drifter & or secondary sim:
Visit Batuu (based on optional goal from Vihisha’s blog post of completing one or more of the JTB aspirations)
Complete the Nerd Brain aspiration (will use the Simvasion mod to fix the rocket fix issue if it doesn’t get fixed),
Have both the drifter and the secondary sim complete the athletic aspiration, and
Have our Drifter try to complete the Cottage Living aspiration (winning the fair is somewhat problematic, so at a minimum complete all other goals of that aspiration).
In this house we can control the Drifter & the secondary sim. 😊
The ability to leave your home lot is limited, usually you need 1,000 simoleons and where you can travel to is set by house. Here is a screenshot of the details, again screenshot is from Vihisha’s blog post as of Feb 19, 2022 (Note the club gatherings should say ‘Get Together needed’, not ‘City Living’. 😊 ):
Some exceptions or amendments that I do re places that can be visited is that I include Bars and Lounges as ‘Nightclubs’ as they act similar to Nightclubs. I also host club gatherings at museums (for prior houses, I would hold club gatherings at gyms, for this house we will wait until that unlocks).
Thanks to everyone who uploaded their sims for us to vote on for the secondary sim of House 9 of the Drifter Challenge! 😊
As a reminder, this secondary sim for House 9 of Drifter will will eventually marry my heir from house 8 of Drifter. Here is a screenshot with details of the House 8 heir.
Whichever sim is chosen, I will change one trait to match Isobel’s. 😊
Here are the sims uploaded to be included in the poll for the secondary sim. I will add the Origin IDs after the poll closes in case you want to add them to your own game.

I thought it would be fun to revisit the Rosebud Challenge now that there are a lot more ways to earn money in the game and scenarios, particularly the Making Money scenario has been added to the game! Playlist link.
I will be using my original Rosebud sims, the unskilled version, though they have been aged down to teens, so they are no longer married, and they have been made spellcasters and given minor makeovers. Since they are teens they only have two traits, you can see the traits I used for them in their screenshots. I am planning on having them become a couple again and to marry once they are young adults.

Goals
To see how quickly they can have 1,000,000 simoleons, without cheats of course!
Rules
Start on an empty lot with nothing (my sims are starting on ‘The Summer House’ in Windenburg).
Start Off the Grid, repay the lot value to connect to the grid (in this case, 3,000 simoleons).
Don’t sell into their inventory, either personal or household, until they have purchased a yard sale table and a street gallery (City Living is needed to have both of these items, customize this to whatever packs you have)
Optional rules/goals if starting with teens. Don’t age them up to young adults until they have done the following: * become A high school students * earn the scouting trait (Seasons required) * have four positive character values (Parenthood required) * have a small home with a kitchen (i.e. they need to be able to bake the cake at home)
More Information
Note if you’d like to play along here is some more information re the challenge:
You can play on any lifespan, or have aging off. I’m playing on a long lifespan.
Apart from starting Off the Grid, you can choose whatever lot types/challenges you want and change them when you’d like. I will start with the Simple Living and Reduce & Recycle lot challenges in addition to the Off the Grid lot challenge.
If you have Seasons you can do whatever you like with the weather/temperature options and the length of the seasons. I’m using 7 day seasons and will have all weather effects on unless there are too many thunderstorms/blizzards, then I may temporarily turn them off and then eventually turn them back on.
Also with Seasons, feel fee to create custom holidays. I know I will!
Whether or not you have a job is up to you. I’m going to go with the flow, if my sims get a job offer, I may take it. Freelance careers are also allowed. The goal is to find out how quickly you can earn the money any way you can without money cheats (to add money, they can be use to remove money).
Feel free to renovate/replace/add community lots. Generally with this I only add things that are usually found on community lots in the game, one exception is I make my community lots toddler/family friendly. So I don’t build a shelter (i.e. a home away from home), but that’s the main restriction I follow.
Overall if you have a pack that adds something to this challenge, feel free to use it if you’d like. That’s part of the fun of this, seeing how all the packs can help (or hinder), with the challenge.
If you’d like to play along with the same sims, let me know and I can upload them to the gallery.
Removing Money to ‘Connect to the Grid’
Here is the cheat needed to remove the money to connect to the grid.
Open the cheats console > control + shift + c (at the same time) Then type: Testingcheats on or testingcheats true Then type: Money # (where the # is the amount you want after the funds are removed.
Alternatively you can remove money without cheats. Two options I know of are:
use manage households to move someone in and then move them out with the money you want removed or
can use the option to gift the money away, though I’ve never tried this. 😊
With the arrival of the Paranormal Stuff Pack I thought it would be fun to do a challenge! The let’s play of this challenge will be coming to my channel later today. I’ll add the link when it’s available.
The premise behind the challenge is to have a sim or sim and their family, depending on how you like to play, start with no simoleons in an empty, haunted house. If you wish, the house can have a fireplace and the painting of Guidry, though this will increase the starting value of the home that you will need to pay off.
Challenge Goals:
Earn enough money to do the following:
Furnish and decorate the house (home must be fully functional once it’s furnished),
Pay off an expert to rid the house of the ghosts permanently (the value of the lot and house when you started, use cheats 📝 to remove the money once you have the funds) and
Have a small nest egg leftover (you can set this up front, if you’d like an easier challenge, then 25k, if you want it to be harder have a goal to complete the fortune aspiration and also have a nest egg of 100k).
Your main sim also has to:
max the 5 level medium skill
become a freelance Paranormal Investigator
successfully complete at least 15 gigs, at least 3 each of each type (easy, medium and hard)
Collect and keep at least 5 unique items obtained from Specters.
Once all the goals have been completed the house can be turned back into a regular residential lot and your sim(s) can carry on with their regular lives.
Rules:
Cheats can be used to give your sims the home, to remove money and to reset them when needed, but not to give your sims an advantage. Other rules/guidelines are the same as those in my Rags to Riches Challenge Guidelines as this is just a variation on a rags to riches challenge.
📝 Cheats Used:
‘Freerealestate on’ to move your sim(s) into the house.
‘Testingcheats on’ or ‘testingcheats true’ and then ‘money 0’ to set your funds to nothing 🔷
To remove the money, calculate what your money should be after deducting the original value of the house and lot then use the same money cheat used to set your funds to nothing.
🔷 If you don’t want to use the money cheat, temporarily add a sim to your household and then move them out and transfer the money you want to remove from the household with them (this would include any money they brought in with them).
Here are the gallery links if you wish to play along with the same family and their home.
Alternatively, you can come join my Facebook group and share how you do in this challenge, or in anything sims related, be it sim creation, sim builds or your sims stories &/or challenges! We also try to keep it updated with Sims news and it’s a great place to ask any sim related questions, including questions about rags to riches or other challenges, that either I, or other members, can try to answer. There are two parts to house 7, in the first part we have a bachelorette challenge to see who our drifter will marry& in the second part our Drifter and the winner of part 1 will start their life together. Which bachelor will win her heart? (EA ID of those who created them is included with their pictures):
Some bachelors were already spellcasters, but for those who weren’t, I had one of my sims who knew the spell to convert sims to spellcasters do so, so they are all now spellcasters. During this first part aging will be off.
While not required, I am using the Sims Info mod to get the exact relationship numbers when determining who has the highest/lowest relationship. Here’s a link to the mod if you’re interested in using it. https://modthesims.info/d/576053/show-search-sim-info-mod.html
Part 2 of House 7:
Part 2 of the challenge is similar to other houses where we start with nothing on an empty lot (this time on Springscape Residential in Oasis Springs). The goals for this part of the challenge are as follows:
As a minimum create a 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom house worth at least 40k simoleons,
Complete the Soulmate Aspiration with our Drifter,
Produce & raise The Heir to the Young Adult life stage.
Please let me know if you’d like to play along, the bachelors, in some cases with their families, can be found on the gallery (see EA IDs mentioned above) and I can add my Drifter, with or without her family if you’d like.
Details of what we can do with non-played sims in this house (as of Feb 3/2021):
Use the options available through their portrait in the bottom left hand corner
Change their aspirations
Drag items in or out through their inventory
Redeem their points in the Rewards Store
Answer phones
Respond to pop-up events
Use the following interactions:
Change outfit
Alter Disguise (Get To Work needed) – Alien exclusive
Drink Medicine to cure Illness (Get To Work needed)
Spend Power Points (Vampires needed) – Vampire exclusive
We’re almost finished with this challenge* so I’d like to know if you’d like to see the family continue in a ‘Super Kids Challenge‘ where the goals for the seven toddlers, once they are newly aged up to children, to do the following:
To max all four childhood aspirations;
To complete all their scout badges; and
To get their character values in a positive range.
While the children are working on those goals, Norah would continue to work on her fortune, painting and gardening aspirations. We’ll also see how green we can make their Newcrest neighbourhood. 😊
Here’s a link to the poll for the vote, voting will be open until 11:59 PM Eastern, Friday, June 26, 2020:
Regardless of how the vote turns out, after the toddlers age up to children I’ll put both the family and their home, as it is when the challenge ends, on the gallery in case anyone wants to continue with them. I’ll update this post with the gallery links when they are up on the gallery.😊
We are starting with a young married couple & the husband’s mother, all of whom are spellcasters, who have recently arrived in Port Promise with a dream to build an eco-friendly home and make the neighbourhood a better place. They’ve used all their money for their trip so are now starting with nothing.
Conor Moon:
Conor is a young adult who is a Maker, a Green Fiend and a Genius, who’s also a Collector due to his Nature Aspiration.
Melody Collins-Moon:
Melody is Conor’s young adult wife who is Creative, a Green Fiend, Family Oriented and a Muser from choosing a Creative Aspiration.
Deirdre Moon:
Deirdre is Conor’s adult mother, who is Family Oriented, a Freegan and a Maker with the Domestic trait from choosing a Family Aspiration.
If you’d like to play along with this family, they are on the gallery, here’s a link: https://tinyurl.com/y9ts2cpn
Challenge Goals:
For Conor & Melody to both:
max the Civil Designer career with each taking a different branch
to complete the Eco Innovator aspiration.
For both Melody & her mother in law Deirdre to complete the new Maker aspiration.
For them all to turn Port Promise from having an Industrial footprint to having a Green footprint.
For them to build a home that is eco friendly & if possible to generate more power & water than they use.
For them all to complete the fortune aspiration.
In connection with the ‘green initiative’, Deirdre will complete the Botanist aspiration.
Since Deirdre is a freegan we will try to furnish as much as possible using things we find & repair or that we create ourselves.
Bonus Goal: For Conor & Melody to have a family.😊
Rules:
To start with nothing with a goal to get rich (in this case to complete the fortune aspiration as noted above).
Note the lifespan I’ve chosen is ‘long’, anyone playing along can choose what they want.
Optional added challenges:
Build/Buy rules – can only purchase from build/buy mode things that can’t be crafted or are known to be found in the dumpster. Timing of these purchases is limited to:
Mondays after the Neighborhood voting is done.
if the family has children, you can do one-off purchases of what you need for the child as they enter new lifespans (for example when a baby ages up to a toddler and a toddler ages up to a child. This shouldn’t be needed when a child ages up to a teen as their needs are similar to those of an adult).
if you have Seasons and Rebate Day falls on a different day, you may enter build/buy mode then too.
You can purchase things from the computer, bookcase or planters, or if you have Seasons, from the phone at any time.
In all cases, you can only go in one time, if you forget something, you need to wait until the next purchase time.
Try to stay in the three Evergreen Harbor neighbourhoods as much as possible, unless travelling for an aspiration.
Alternatively, you can come join my new Facebook group and share how you do in this challenge, or in anything sims related, be it sim creation, sim builds or your sims stories &/or challenges! It’s also a great place to ask any sim related questions, including questions about this or any other challenges, that either I or other members can try to answer. Sims Sanctuary
Once all goals have been met you can age all the toddlers up to children all at once.
Rules:
The household starts with nothing on an empty lot (use cheats to set funds to zero; i.e. ‘testingcheats on’ or ‘testingcheats true’, then ‘money 0’ )
No cheats or mods for needs or to add money. Can use cheats to reset sims when they are stuck.
Must bring all the toddlers with you if you travel off the home lot (wandering around the neighbourhood is fine).
Aging should be on long or off.
Can hire services, including a nanny.
Can use lot traits and if you have Tiny Living you can build the house as tiny residential lot (may change to regular lot if wish).
Caregiver cando freelance work. If choose to be a freelance artist, you can’t accept gigs that require you to leave the lot; cancel gig if you accidentally accept one.
Can’t modify community lots to add things you need; however, you can add toddler items to them once you have provided them at home.
If have Seasons, it’s your choice as to whether you have weather/temperature effects on or off.
Challenge is considered a fail if any toddlers are taken away.
While it is considered a challenge fail if you have a toddler taken away you could try an easier ‘version’ of the challenge and keep going! In this case the challenge is to see how many toddlers you still have when you meet all three of the goals, the more toddlers you have to age up to children at the end, the better.😊
Here’s a closer look at the toddlers and their mom, including their names and traits:

Calling for non CC sims to use in my YouTube Let’s Play for House 4 of the Drifter Challenge. I need the following:
1) Young Adults (preferably unskilled) as potential love interests, they can come with siblings/parents, but need at least one other young adult or older in the household,
2) Sims in the Scientist career as co workers (just have them join, they don’t need to have been played in the career) AND
3) Aliens (I may eventually have one move in to my household as that is one goal of the challenge 😊 )
2) and 3) require you to have Get to Work.
Please use #H4MapleSimmer when sharing on the gallery or just comment below if you have any and let me know your User ID. 😊
Here’s my sim, Dominique Driver. She is a genius, geek and a bookworm. Her story starts this Thursday, March 21.
After living a sheltered life, our new drifter Dominique Driver returns to her grandmother’s world of Willow Creek to start her first day with nothing in an empty neighborhood (lot is Riverside Roost). She is fascinated by aliens, since her grandfather was abducted late in life and came back pregnant with her aunt Bridget.
Will she be up to the following challenges?:
1) To max the scientist career (note if you don’t have GTW, the goal is to max the astronaut career).
2) To build a 2 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom Home worth at least $50k Simoleons (after Depreciation)
3) To achieve level 10 of the Rocket Science skill
4) To travel to space and bring back 3 unique Space Rocks or Aliens (*If you own Get To Work, items acquired from Sixam count)
5) Befriend and Move In a Co-Worker (*If you own Get To Work, you may befriend and move in an Alien instead, so this will be my goal)
6) Produce and raise an Heir to the Young Adult life stage; this Heir will become the Main Sim in the 5th House Mini-Challenge.
Note we can only control our main sim in this challenge (apart from a few exceptions, one main one being ‘claiming bed’ and aging up on a cake).

Information on the Drifter Challenge:
The Drifter Challenge is a challenge created by the lovely Lady Vi and you start with both Willow Creek and Oasis Springs empty, except for one restaurant if you have Dine Out. It can be thought of as a generation challenge as well as a building challenge, which each generation, or ‘house’, starts with no money on an empty lot and each ‘house’ has its own set of goals. As you meet certain goals over the generations, or ‘houses’ as they are called, you can also start adding certain community lots (which you can build or download from the gallery or add the original lots back if you’ve saved them in your library). It’s a good way to examine a lot of different elements in the game, and you can skip any generation you don’t want to do. Here’s a link to the main page if it interests you; it further links to the different ‘house’ rules. https://thedrifterchallenge.blogspot.com/
